Home Business Tips – Preparation – How Do You Manage?

As I was commuting home I realized that the little steps I take in advance to prepare that make my life easier and run smoothly are unconscious habits. What made me stop and think was just the little bit of preparation I do to get off the commuter train, using the door that places me at the top of the stairs. We are all creatures of habit, when I get on the train lots of people are standing in their specific spot for lots of different reasons; but for those of you who commute on a regular basis know that it is likely to get a seat!

The same preparation habit applies in my business. In preparation for writing these articles I am always learning myself, listening to my mentors and coaches. It cannot come out of you unless you first put it in. As I listen I become inspired about a specific topic or concept. I am prepared, I always carry a small note book with me to write down my ideas. At my first opportunity I input my notes, in point form, into the computer and save the draft. This way each morning when I sit down to write I have a number of topics to choose from. As I write this article this morning I had 6 topics to choose from. This makes the business of article writing much smoother and less stressful. The same would apply to you as you receive ideas for your business.

What do you do to prepare that allows your home business to run even more smoothly?

1) Always carry a note book, recorder or hand held device so that when you get the great ideas you can write them down as soon as possible. You will be amazed at the great ideas you will capture

2) Schedule your time and be organized, there is nothing worse than wasting time looking for something

3) Do the little things as they come to mind. I know that I have an event tomorrow with Jennifer, I have a book to take back to Jennifer; instead of running around at the last minute or forgetting all together I put the book near my briefcase so that when I head out to the event tomorrow I will see it and remember to return it. What are the last minute things you are running around attempting to organize as you head out the door? Ask yourself what can I do to alleviate that stress, what could I have done a few hours ago or even yesterday to make this easier?

When you develop the habit of preparation it is wonderful how you will have less stress and will actually be able to accomplish more with the same amount of time.
